Kite Spider

Wendy mentioned that she had never heard of a kite spider. I thought that I would look some stuff up.

I found a GREAT website Bug Guide. They had the most information on the Kite Spider or Spinybacked  Orbweaver. They are mostly found in the Southeast and in the fall.  The most interesting thing that I found out is that the kite spider has a very short life span. They are only survive until they reproduce. They are born in the winter and normally die in the following spring.

You can find lots of pictures on Bug Guide, Pictures of Arachnids,  and Dave’s Garden.
